“Be Patient, Tinubu’s Reforms Will Deliver Results” – Orji Kalu Tells Nigerians

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has expressed confidence in the economic reforms undertaken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that they will yield positive outcomes for Nigeria.

Speaking on Wednesday during a New Year’s visit to the Igbere residence of Chief Daniel Eke, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Abia State, Senator Kalu highlighted the importance of updating the nation’s laws, some of which he noted have been in existence for over a century. He described the revamping of these outdated laws as necessary to align with global economic realities.

Senator Kalu commended President Tinubu’s introduction of tax reform bills, describing the move as a bold step toward progress. However, he stressed the need for wider consultations and public enlightenment, noting that Nigerians were not adequately educated on the benefits of the reforms before they were introduced.

“The tax reform bill is progressive, but Nigerians lack sufficient orientation about its advantages,” Kalu remarked. “We need to carry all regions along and educate them on the purpose and benefits of this bill.”

He added that the reforms, if properly implemented, would promote economic competition among states, enabling them to harness their resources and boost productivity. Drawing comparisons with China, he emphasized the importance of fostering competitiveness to stimulate national development.

“We cannot progress as a nation without embracing competition, as China has done. Each of the 36 states must compete in productivity. This is the only way to achieve sustainable growth,” he said.

While acknowledging the economic hardships caused by the ongoing reforms, Senator Kalu commended Nigerians for their patience and resilience. He assured citizens that the challenges are temporary and that 2025 will bring positive outcomes.

“President Tinubu is aware of the difficulties Nigerians are facing, and so am I. However, these reforms are necessary, and there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Kalu stated.

Senator Kalu reaffirmed his commitment to delivering economic and infrastructural benefits to his constituents. He highlighted his legislative achievements and efforts to establish industries that create employment opportunities in Abia North.

“I have prioritized my duty as a senator over my private enterprises. My focus is on ensuring that the people of Abia North receive the dividends of democracy,” Kalu said.

In his remarks, Chief Daniel Eke praised Senator Kalu for his impactful representation, noting that the senator has gone beyond legislative duties to establish processing industries that provide employment for constituents.

“Unlike others who focus on distributing items like frying pans, Senator Kalu is building industries that address the core needs of our people, such as employment and infrastructure,” Eke stated.

Senator Kalu reiterated his commitment to enhancing the lives of his constituents through strategic development initiatives. “I remain dedicated to my responsibilities, and I will continue to demonstrate true leadership for the benefit of my people,” he concluded.
