Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, Hon. Uko Nkole has announced the closure of Bailey bridge located along Ohafia -ABAM for maintenance starting from midnight of today monday 01/03/2021.
This is contained in a statement issued by Ibem Onwuka, Media Assistant to the House of Representatives member.
This is to enable the authorities carry out a repair work on the collapsed bridge.
All road users are therefore by this notice urged to use alternative routes to and from Ohafia-Abam while this repair lasts.
The statement reads, “Further to my earlier briefing on Nmuri bridge while the Federal ministry of works through her contractor Messers Hartland construction company is on site to deliver a brand new bridge on or before the onset of the rainy season 2021 .
“I am pleased to announce to you again that my intervention attracted through FERMA that will see to the rehabilitation of the existing failed Bailey bridge shall commence tomorrow 02/03/2021 .
“In view of the above the bridge shall be closed to traffic from midnight of today monday 01/03/2021 and all the road users on this corridor are expected to source alternative routes to and from Ohafia -ABAM respectively with effect from tomorrow Tuesday 02/03/2021 -Thursday 04/03/2021 to enable the contractor undertake the accelerated repairs of the damaged bridge.
“Please I enjoin all to give FERMA and her contractors maximum cooperation to deliver this set task early.
“I have also informed the relevant officers of Federal ministry of works and housing to allow for seamless and unhindered access to the site .
“Please cooperate and give the contents of this notice the widest circulation. Thank you.”
