Bad Roads: Edo Gov Urges Contractors To Return To Sites

Monday, Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, ordered contractors to return to the sites and fix damaged road segments in the Benin city right away on Wednesday, just twenty-four hours after taking office.

Governor Okpebholo issued this directive during an inspection of Upper Mission Extension Road by Aduwawa Junction and the Ramat Park Axis in Benin City.

At the site near Aduwawa Junction, Okpebholo affirmed that his administration, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, is committed to restoring hope for the people of Edo.

Expressing concern over the poor state of the roads, the governor assured that work would commence immediately, emphasizing that Edo people deserve good, motorable roads.

He said, “During the campaigns, I promised to hit the ground running. Today, I ordered contractors back to the sites. We have no time to waste.”

“We promised our people that we would fix and construct the roads. There is only one dry season in a year, and now is the time to act.”

Work is set to begin on the 7.5km Temboga Road, Lucky Way Junction by Aduwawa, and Ramat Park/Slope Axis, with additional works planned for Eyaen Road and Obadan Junction along the Benin/Auchi Expressway.

Governor Okpebholo was sworn in on October 12 alongside his deputy, Dennis Idahosa. In his inaugural address, he promised to prioritize road construction, among other initiatives.
