Assist Police In Serving You, Abia CP Urges Residents

The Abia State Commissioner for Police Kene Onwuemeile has called on residents of the state to assist in the fight against insecurity, saying it is everyone’s business.

He made the comment in Umuahia, Abia State during a security training for Abia youths on Friday.

Represented by the head of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) unit of the command Moses Okeke, the commissioner added that credible information from the people would help security agencies in combating crimes.

He also reiterated the role of technology in combating crime, saying the world is advancing heavily in terms of technological development. According to him, the use of Robotic Process Automation (RPA), has, in recent times, proven to be a vital tool to effectively tackle insecurity.

The Abia police chief lauded the facilitators Ezeji Foundation for embarking on the move to train Abia youth to become security experts.

On his part, Ezeji Nwaogu hinted that the partnership of the Abia Government through the security awareness training is to bring down criminality to the barest minimum in the region by adopting digital technology.

The one-day seminar was segmented into various sessions, during which experts took turns to enlighten the people on the use and impacts of different security gadgets.

Among the experts who spoke were a car tracker/car key’s technology Nwonye Richard who hinted that the introduction of car tracker had reduced the rate of car theft by 40%.

He said car tracking would enable people to ascertain the whereabouts of their cars and give access to conversations “that goes on even in their absence”.

“This helps in controlling the incidents of car theft in our society,” he added.

Similarly, Christopher Orji Orji who spoke on the importance of solar street light systems, debunked the assertion that the device is capable of generating energy for household appliances.

He explained that the solar street light could only illuminate the streets, maintaining that “it cannot be used to power any of the household appliances”.

Meanwhile, he advised subscribers to ensure they go “for deep cycle battery for a longer duration”.

Also, the manager of Eriok Nigeria Ltd Marshal Udo, who highlighted the positive impacts of the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), described it as a device that provides close coverage of an event.
