Asari Dokunbo
The Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri (Elem Kalabari) in Rivers State, Da Amakiri Tubo, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari, Dabaye Amakiri I, has been appointed as the President-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (Ameer Muminin) for the South East and South South regions of Nigeria.
ABN TV report that the appointment was formally announced during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Eastern and Southern Nigeria Islamic Council to his palace in Elem Kalabari, Rivers State.
Speaking on the significance of the appointment, the Vice President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Dr. Haroun Ogbonnia Ajah, described Asari Dokubo as a pillar of Islam in Nigeria, acknowledging his unwavering commitment to the faith since the 1980s. He highlighted Dokubo’s efforts in building mosques, supporting Muslim communities, and promoting religious harmony across the country.
In his acceptance speech, Asari Dokubo pledged to use his new position to uplift Muslims in the region, particularly through economic empowerment initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods.
He further urged prayers and support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing the need for good governance and national development.
The visit concluded with special prayers for the peace, unity, and progress of Nigeria.
