The National Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia has dismissed PDP’s petition against the election of Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa as representative of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The Tribunal in its judgement on Saturday said the petition lacks in merit.
The Feb. 25 National Assembly election had produced Osonwa of Labour Party as winner.
Dissatisfied with the declaration of Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) in favour of Osonwa, Mr. Ifeanyi Uchendu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) approached the court to challenge Mr Osonwa’s victory.
Messr Uchendu had accused INEC of not complying with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, as amended in the conduct of the election.
The Tribunal however dismissed the petition for lacking in merit.
