As part of activities to mark the 2021 Army Day Celebration, officers and men of the Nigerian Army, 14 Brigade Goodluck Jonathan Barracks Ebem Ohafia, Abia State have taken free medical outreach to their host community.
ABN TV reports that the theme of this year’s celebration is ‘A Professional and Ready Nigeria Army: A Prerequisite For Successful Operation in a Joint Environment’.

Addressing members of the community, government officials, and the public at Federal government college Ohafia venue of the medical outreach, Commander of 14 Brigade Goodluck Jonathan Barracks Ebem Ohafia, Muhammad Bello Wabili said the annual event is aimed at enhancing military/civil relationships and to foster security for benefit of all.

He also said it is an important celebration in the Nigerian Army calendar that seeks to highlight the roles, capabilities, and modest achievements of the Army in the last one year.
ABN TV reports that the Nigerian Army’s free medical outreach featured consultations, diagnosis, and treatment.
It also afforded members of the community to have access to free blood pressure measurement, sugar level testing, dental and eye check-up as well as the distribution of items of medical benefit, including delivery packs to pregnant women and mosquito nets to support safe hospital delivery.
The event is ongoing simultaneously across Army formations in Abia and Nigeria at large.
“Through this medical outreach and other interventions, Nigerian Army is demonstrating its desire for peaceful coexistence with host communities in Abia State throughout the country.
“On this note, we crave the support of Abia State Government, Royal Fathers, community leaders and residents across Abia State to join hands with the Nigerian Army in ensuring public order and public safety in the state” he appealed.
Commander Wabili also expressed gratitude to Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, who was at the event represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Chris Ezem for his relentless support for the 14 Brigade.
He also thanked Royal Fathers in the state, heads of other security agencies for their support in making Abia safe for all.
