Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Operation Lafiya Nakowa, have destroyed a major bandits’ camp located at TY Farm along the Takum–Wukari road in Taraba State. The operation also led to the recovery of a dane gun.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, the troops acted on credible intelligence about bandits’ activities in Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages within Takum Local Government Area. The troops subsequently conducted a clearance patrol through several villages — including Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba — successfully neutralizing threats and clearing identified criminal hideouts.
During the mission, troops received additional intelligence that armed bandits were sighted around TY Farm in Tati. They immediately advanced to the area through Sabon Gida Tati and engaged the criminals, who fled into the forest after encountering the army’s superior firepower. Upon further search, the troops discovered and destroyed the bandits’ camp, effectively denying them a safe haven.
The Nigerian Army explained that the ongoing clearance operation, codenamed Operation Lafiya Nakowa, is part of continuous efforts to flush out terrorists and bandits within the Area of Responsibility of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) across Taraba State.
The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Taraba State, while urging residents to continue providing credible intelligence to support ongoing counter-banditry operations.
