The 3rd Brigade Nigeria Army, Kano, says they have recorded zero cases of banditry, kidnapping, and high-ranking criminal activities from non-state actors within Kano and its environment.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Jamiu Olayinka, stated this when he received members of the Kano Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Bukavu Barrack on Wednesday.
“I am happy to tell you that we have been able to record zero cases of kidnapping and banditry in Kano and its environs,” he said.

He said they were able to sustain peace in Kano as a result of the Joint Security Taskforce activities as well as the synergy that exist among security agencies in the state.
“In Kano, the synergy we have with other Security Agencies has yielded positive results and continues to make it easy for us to keep the State safer than ever before,” he said.
In the same vein, General Olayinka noted that the cooperation and understanding they are receiving from the Kano people in terms of intelligence gathering has made their jobs much easier.
Olayinka explained that before now they had serious issues with local government areas with boundaries to Katsina, Bauchi, and other bandit-infested states; however, due to intelligence gathering and synergy, they have succeeded in ensuring peace in those places.
He said their activities at Falgore Forest had effectively checked the influx of non-State Actors into Kano and its environs while travelers on the route are now plying the road without any fear.
The Commanding officer explained that the Military’s main job is to ensure the protection of lives and properties and in Kano where it is their jurisdiction they would ensure that Kano remained peaceful.
Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Aminu Garko, said they are ready to partner with the Military and all other security agencies in areas of information dissemination.
Garko commended the Brigade Commander for doing his best to make Kano much more peaceful, adding that the Media mission is development, not destruction
