Army Personnel Killed In Nasarawa, Colleague Kidnapped

Gunmen have killed a soldier and kidnapped his colleague, leaving behind a motorcycle the two soldiers used to convey themselves to Idadu Army camp, along Ibbabu-Idadu in Doma local government area of Nasarawa State.

The soldier killed was said to be in mufti, according to a source, his colleague was also abducted when they were ambushed by the gunmen and taken to an unknown destination.

The source explained that bandits have formed a habit of terrorizing farmers, market women, and men on market days at Ibbabu-Idadu, robbing them of their belongings and in some cases raping women.

The source said the army officer killed by the gunmen hailed from Gombe State and was attached to Idadu army camp in Doma.

He claimed the late army officer was attacked and axed by the bandits and his motorcycle thrown into the river along the road, while his colleague was abducted.

He stated, “The ugly death of the army officer has ignited panic in Doma and its environs including Yelwa Ediys Igbabo Idadu Opkatta Rukubu Akpanaja, Doka, Ajimaka, Okpanya as farmers no longer go to the farm.”

The military source explained that the 4 Special Force Doma had already drafted its personnel to comb the entire area and ensure that the bandits are arrested with the aim of rescuing the kidnapped soldier.

Efforts are still being made to get a police report on the development.
