President Muhammadu Buhari has recently approved the reconstitution of the Governing Boards of twenty-five (25) Federal Polytechnics and twenty-one (21) Colleges of Education in Nigeria.

In a statement made available to ABN TV, Ntaku described the appointment of Engr Uruakpa as a relief to the people of Ukwa West Local Government Area, who have been relegated to the background for several years, particularly in the area of political appointments.

While commending the Buhari led government for remembering Ukwa at this time, he solicited for more appointments for Ukwa people as a way of compensating them for remaining calm in the face of several years of neglect in spite of being the only oil producing area in Abia State.

According to him, “This appointment of an Ukwa son into the Governing Board of a Federal Polytechnic will, definitely, bring relief to the people, for they have been deprived in many ways for a very long time in spite of their economic contributions to the country”.

Ntaku continued, “It is my prayer that since the Buhari government has remembered Ukwa land at this time, it should be the beginning of more appointments for the people”.

“It is stating the obvious that Ukwa people have never disrupted oil operations in its area notwithstanding the general neglect of the people by the successive governments”

He expressed confidence that Engr Uruakpa will bring his wealth of experience in the private sector to bear on the governance of the tertiary institution.

Engr Sterling Chinwendu Uruakpa, frontline APC member hails from Umuezeke in Asa North of Ukwa West Local Government Area. He graduated from the University of Port Harcourt and Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu, where he studied Electrical Electronics Engineering.
