The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is preparing to finalize the zoning arrangement for the sharing of presiding officer positions in the upcoming 10th National Assembly, which will convene in June.

 

According to ABN TV, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) will meet on Monday, May 8th, to ratify the zoning formula.

The decision follows a meeting between the NWC and President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during which a consensus was reached on the sharing of the six offices in each of the National Assembly’s two chambers.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the APC National Chairman, announced last Wednesday that the party was considering a consensus arrangement for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.

He also stated that the party would conduct extensive consultations with the President-elect to ensure that everyone was on the same page.

 

The APC leadership directed all aspirants to comply with the arrangement for the sharing of presiding officer positions in the National Assembly at their meeting on Friday.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman; the two Deputy National Chairmen, Senator Abubakar Kyari (North) and Chief Emma Enuokwu (South); the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore; the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila; and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege were present at the meeting.

 

The National Chairman has called a meeting of the NWC for Monday, May 8th, 2023, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, in accordance with the resolution passed on Friday.
