APC Chairmanship: I’ve Not Lost Election Since 70s — Adamu

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, one of the Chairmanship aspirants of All Progressives Congress (APC), says he has not lost any election since he joined politics in the 70s.

The two-term governor of Nasarawa, who is an incumbent senator, has the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari for the position he is eyeing.

Speaking when he met the APC Caucus of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday, he said his declaration for the Chairmanship contest was delayed because he was busy with reconciliation of party members across the country.

According to him, he was busy with the party’s reconciliation committee that met with aggrieved members of the party and that assignment delayed his declaration.

In 2021, the APC named Adamu head of a 9-man reconciliation panel. He had travelled across the country to meet with aggrieved party members.

The lawmaker told members of the green chamber that although he was the last to join the chairmanship race, he has the zeal and experience to address the challenges facing the APC at the moment.

According to him, a leader is always needed in certain circumstances saying that, he has garnered experience since his students days and had been substantially groomed in partisan politics to steer the affairs of the party.

He further informed that, he had never contested and lost any election since his foray into politics in the 1970s.

Earlier, the House Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, who welcomed Senator Abdullahi Adamu, commended him, saying as an elder and a seasoned politician, he has the political clout to lead the party.

He informed that, although other aspirants have notified the members about their visit, the Senator was the first to meet and interact with them.

On his part, the Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Idris Wase said, Senator Adamu was a focused individual with a desire to bring the needed experience to the party at a critical time and approaching general elections.
