Hon. Collins Ugochukwu
The political landscape in Abia State has witnessed a major shift as Hon. Ugochukwu Collins, the lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly, has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP), ABN TV reports.
His defection was confirmed in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa. The Speaker read the letter on the floor of the House during Wednesday’s plenary session, which was still ongoing at the time of this report.
The move by Hon. Ugochukwu Collins comes amid growing political realignments in Abia State, where the Labour Party has been strengthening its presence. Though the lawmaker has yet to publicly disclose his reasons for leaving the PDP, political analysts speculate that it may be influenced by the changing political dynamics in the state.
With this defection, the Labour Party gains another seat in the Abia State House of Assembly, further consolidating its influence. The development is expected to spark political reactions within the PDP and across the state’s political spectrum.
