Anambra Changes Pilgrimage Route For Intending Pilgrims

The Anambra State Government, through the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, has changed its Christian Pilgrimage route from Israel to Rome and Greece for intending pilgrims.

This is following the war between Israel and Hamas, which has led to several casualties and unrest.

The notification to that effect was contained in a press statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser to the state governor on Pilgrims, Felicia Uzoma, and the Principal Executive Officer of the Board, Obiora Nweke, on Monday.

The board said Rome and Greece were selected because they hold immense historical and spiritual significance, offering an opportunity for profound experiences and deeper connections with the Christian faith.

The statement read, “We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to you with an important update regarding our upcoming pilgrimage.

“Due to the current situation in the region, particularly the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, the Anambra State Christian Pilgrims Office, in consultation with the National Christian Pilgrims Commission in Abuja, Nigeria, has decided to alter our pilgrimage plans.

“Instead of travelling to Israel as initially planned, we will now embark on a spiritually enriching journey to Rome and Greece. This change in destination ensures your safety and peace of mind during this sacred pilgrimage.

“We are excited about the rich cultural heritage and the spiritual encounters that await us in these destinations.

“We understand that this change might bring about some adjustments, but we are committed to ensuring that your pilgrimage remains a fulfilling and meaningful journey.

“Please indicate your interest in visiting Rome and Greece so we can make proper arrangements and documentation.”
