Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan will make her Diamond League comeback on Friday when she competes in the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the Meeting de Paris.
Amusan’s appearance in Paris will be her fourth Diamond League outing of the season. She began her campaign with a fourth-place finish in Xiamen (12.74s) and followed with another fourth in Shaoxing (12.66s).
However, she bounced back emphatically with a season-best and meet record 12.45s to claim her first Diamond League win of the year in Rabat last month.
The World record holder and 2022 world champion will be up against an elite field in Paris, including world medallist Keni Harrison, rising Jamaican star Ackera Nugent, Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska, Dutch champion Nadine Visser, Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas, and current leader Grace Stark from the United States.
Despite the depth of competition, Amusan will be encouraged by her upward trajectory in form and her experience at the top level. She is expected to challenge strongly for maximum points as the race to qualify for the Diamond League finals in Zurich intensifies.
Her consistent performances currently place her fourth in the Diamond League standings with 10 points, behind leaders Grace Stark (23), Danielle Williams (15), and Marione Fourie (12) in the overall standings.
The Paris meet is shaping up to be one of the most stacked legs of the series, featuring a star-studded line-up including five Olympic champions from Paris 2024.
