The Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, has extended warm birthday greetings to former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika (Rtd), describing him as a distinguished son of Abia State whose service to Nigeria remains a benchmark in military leadership.
In a goodwill message issued to commemorate the occasion, the federal lawmaker commended Ihejirika’s patriotism, discipline, and unwavering commitment to strengthening the Nigerian Army during his tenure as Chief of Army Staff between 2010 and 2014.
Ogah noted that the retired General presided over significant operational reforms and capacity-building initiatives within the Army at a period marked by heightened security challenges across the country, demonstrating courage under pressure and steadfast loyalty to the Nigerian state.
He added that as Abia State celebrates one of its finest sons, the people of Isuikwuato and Umunneochi Federal Constituency are particularly proud to identify with the former Army Chief, whose achievements continue to inspire young people—especially those aspiring to serve in the armed forces and other national institutions.
“Today, Abia State celebrates a statesman and soldier. In Isuikwuato and Umunneochi, we celebrate our son, a man whose name is firmly etched in the history of Nigeria’s military service,” the statement read.
On behalf of the constituents, Ogah wished Lt. Gen. Ihejirika sound health, divine protection, and many more years of impactful service, praying that the retired General will continue to enjoy peace, strength, and fulfillment as he contributes to nation-building through mentorship and counsel.
