In the Onogoro neighborhood of Ebonyi State, an unidentified man was electrocuted while trying to steal a transformer cable.
DAILY POST gathered that the already decomposing lifeless body was found inside the transformer premises.
Speaking with a resident of the area, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, they claimed ignorance of the cause of the man’s death for fear of arrest but noted that the decomposing corpse has been scaring residents away since Friday morning when the man was discovered.
The resident added that the incident attracted officials of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and teams from the Nigeria Police Force but expressed concern that they have abandoned the deceased’s body for three days since it was found.
She appealed to the Ebonyi State Government and security agencies to evacuate the corpse, stating that the decomposing body poses a health threat to residents of the area.
When contacted, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident and said efforts are ongoing to evacuate the corpse.
