The Supreme Court reinstated Godwin Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, as the party’s senatorial candidate for the Akwa Ibom North Senatorial District on Friday.
His candidacy was declared unlawful and the Court of Appeal decision from November 14, 2022, was set aside.
The Federal High Court in Abuja rendered a decision in favor of the recently-retired Minister of Niger Delta Affairs in September of last year, and the apex court unanimously confirmed that decision in a decision delivered by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa.
