All is now set for the people of Akanu Ohafia, Ohafia local government area of Abia state to hold this year’s Ekpe festival which coincides with the celebration of the community’s festival.
Chief Dr. Don Emeka Idika Emeri, President General of Akanu Ohafia Development Union (AODU) in a chat with ABN TV on Monday says the event will afford the community opportunity to showcase its rich cultural heritage.
Taking place on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 he said the event will stream live on the leading online Television, ABN T’V.
According to Dr. Emeri, two age grades which are hosting this year’s Ekpe festival, Ugwumba and Anyafu Mba age grades have put a significant effort to ensure the success of the annual cultural festival.
The President General who said plans are ongoing to make the annual celebration a huge tourism event expressed gratitude to God for the successful harvest of the yam crop this year.

He noted that adequate accommodation and security as well as logistics have been put in place for the success of the event.
Ugwumba and Anyafu Mba age grades are also expected to pick up one project this year to mark their traditional retirement which comes up in a short while.
He added that a team has been put in place to ensure the enforcement of COVID-19 protocols.
The PG also Invited friends, well-wisher and inlaws for the great event.
He called on sons and daughters of Akanu Ohafia globally to stay glued to ABN TV for live streaming of the event.
Director ABN TV, Mr. Ifeanyi Okali said his team are ready to bring uninterrupted live streaming of the event with clear picture and sound that will excite viewers globally.
Ebem Ohafia had recently held a successful new yam festival and traditional Ekpe dance amidst cheers which was also streamed live on ABN TV.
