The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 9 Umuahia has denied AIG Baba Tijjani’s involvement in the emergence of Dr. Collins Ugochukwu Obi as the chairman Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) of the Zone.
The force while reacting to a newspaper publication described the allegation as baseless and unfounded.
The Force in a statement signed by the Zonal PPRO, SP. Egwu Chukwu Janet maintains that AIG Tijjani was not in the Zone during the election Dr. Obi as PCRC chairman.
The Force says AIG Wilson Inalegwu (rtd) handed who was in the Zone when the said election was conducted handed over to Tijjani.
It also says the tenure of Dr. Collins Obi has not expired in line with extant laws.

“The attention of the Nigeria Police Zone 9 Headquarters Umuahia has been drawn to media publications of the Nations NewsPaper and others of 4/11/2020 to mislead members of the public concerning the leadership of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) of Zone 9 and wish to keep the record straight thus:-
“The above body decided that the tenure of past Executives expired and scheduled election on 28th February 2018, announcing posts to be contested by interested candidates. Election forms were obtained and election scheduled up to twice which were not visible till 6th December, 2018 when all the four component States comprising Abia, Anambra, Enugu, and Imo delegates conducted peaceful election and Dr. Sir Collins Ugochukwu Obi emerged as chairman along with thirteen (13) others as Executive members. They were duly sworn in for four years tenure which will expire in 2022.
“The allegation that he- Dr. Obi has served for ten (10) years is false. His first tenure started from 2014 and expired in 2018. During 2018 election, Dr. Obi was re-elected for second tenure which will expire in 2022. PCRC Constitution in Article 20 (1) and (2) is relevant.
“The falsehood that AIG Baba Tijjani imposed Dr. Obi on Zone 9 PCRC is baseless and unfounded in the sense that the AIG has not been transferred to Zone 9 Police Command Headquarters in 2018 when election was conducted. The present PCRC Executives led by Dr. Sir Collins Obi was handed over to him by his predecessor- AIG Wilson Inalegwu now retired.
“However, it is pertinent to note that this is the third (3rd) time care taker committee is set up since 2019, from the onset, sir James Uzoma was appointed as caretaker chairman in a letter dated 30th March, 2019.
“The second was appointment of chief(Hon.) Egenti Raymond Ezenwata (KSM) as chairman of a seven (7) man committee to function for three months in a letter dated June 30th , 2020.
“Surprisingly, the third (3rd) letter for the caretaker committee appointing Chima Chukwunyere as chairman in a letter dated 2nd October, 2020 was sent.
“In view of the above series of caretaker committee set up by National body, it is a clear manifestation of unconstitutional conduct.
“In conclusion, Zone 9 Command Headquarters, hereby affirm that Dr. Sir Collins Ugochukwu Obi and his elected members remain Zone 9 PCRC recognized Executives and comfortable with same,” She said.
