The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 6, Calabar, Mustapha Muhammed Bala, PSC, today received the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Florence Banku Obi, and the Chief Security Officer of the institution during a courtesy visit to his office.
During the meeting, AIG Bala emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing, referring to the security report before him as “actionable intelligence.” He advised the Vice Chancellor to proactively handle security concerns to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order within the university.
In her remarks, Prof. Obi expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to engage in a security dialogue with the AIG. She assured that the university would take all intelligence reports seriously and implement necessary security measures to maintain peace on campus. She further commended the efforts of the police in ensuring a secure environment around the university.
AIG Bala reaffirmed his commitment, alongside the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, to strengthening security measures in the university. He assured the Vice Chancellor of continued collaboration in enhancing the security architecture of UNICAL.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts to foster cooperation between security agencies and educational institutions in ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
