The Senate Chief Whip, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu on Wednesday held a private meeting with Rivers State Governor, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike just a day after wooing the former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant-General Azubuike Ihejirika to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
ABN TV recalls that Lieutenant-General Azubuike was appointed by the former President, Goodluck Jonathan of the People’s Democratic Party.
Sen. Kalu arrived at the Government House at about 9:15 pm where he was received by Governor Wike.

The Wednesday meeting with Wike came as a surprise to many political watchers especially being the first since Senator Kalu left office as governor in 2007.
Though details of the meeting could not be ascertained as at the moment of filing this report, it may not be unconnected with the former Abia governor’s campaign to woo more PDP bigwigs into the APC.

Lieutenant-General Ihejirika’s defection to the APC comes months after Senator made efforts to have him join the party.
Source says more bigwigs from across the various political parties will in coming days pitch their tent with the APC following series of meeting Sen Kalu has brokered.
