The Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa has urged the Ghana Cocoa Board‘s new CEO, Randy Abbey, to address the ever-changing issues facing the cocoa sector.
In a congratulatory statement on the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer on Wednesday, the president of COFAA, Adeola Adegoke, said Abbey’s appointment is coming at a pivotal time when the cocoa industry faces dynamic challenges, ranging from climate change to fair pricing and the promotion of value addition within the sector.
“We are confident that your expertise, passion, and dedication will steer COCOBOD and the Ghanaian cocoa industry to even greater heights.
“Ghana COCOBOD has long been a beacon of excellence in the cocoa sector, and we are confident that under your visionary leadership, the organisation will continue to thrive, setting new benchmarks in sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity.
“As an association committed to the welfare of cocoa farmers across Africa, we look forward to collaborating closely with COCOBOD under your leadership to champion initiatives that empower farmers, improve livelihoods, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our cherished African cocoa industry,” the statement read.
Similarly, the statement acknowledged and appreciated the recent visit of International Cocoa Organisation Executive Director Mitchel Arrion to Yaounde, Cameroon, for the 111th Ordinary Session of the ICCO, a gesture that underscores the ICCO’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and advancing the welfare of cocoa farmers across Africa, maintaining that the synergies between ICCO, COCOBOD, and other stakeholders will undoubtedly contribute to creating a more sustainable and inclusive global cocoa ecosystem.
“Once again, congratulations on your new role. The COFAAA pledges its unwavering support as you embark on this transformative journey to elevate the Ghanian cocoa sector, the African cocoa ecosystem, and strengthen its position on the global stage,” the statement read
