Pillar of Sports in Africa and former Governor of Abia State, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu has revealed the strategy to be adopted by Nigeria’s national team to win the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2024 ongoing in Ivory Coast.
Sen. Kalu who revived the Enyimba FC and made it a two-time African champion during his tenure as governor of Abia State expressed happiness with the Eagles’ win over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday.
He however said despite having the best players, Super Eagles is yet to make a team, urging the head coach to make more efforts to ensure that they play as a team.
“We have the best players in that team, but we do not have the best team. They are not a team yet, they are good players who play professional football in different clubs, but they are not yet a team.
“They should be made a team. They are not yet on duty, I want them to be on duty. They can carry the World Cup, it’s easy, it’s determination and togetherness. I want them to play more as a team so that we have good results”, he said in a viral video.
He also urged the Super Eagles managers to use two strikers instead of just Victor Osimhen. According to him, while the opponents will focus on Osimhen, the second striker will be busy scoring goals.
Super Eagles flied over Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday with a 2-0 win, qualifying for the round of 16 stages.
