Adventist Technical College, Ohafia, Victory College International, Aba South and Master’s Vessel at Academy will test their might at the grand finale of Abia State quiz competition.
The annual academic competition is sponsored by Ray Nkemdirim Foundation in collaboration with Abia State Ministry of Education, Secondary Education Management Board, SEMB, Abia State Scholarship Board, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, FLO94.9 FM among others.
The organisers say it seeks to revive the dwindling reading culture amongst students as well as spur them to academic excellence.
The three schools emerged as champions from their educational zones where they defeated the Local Government Champions.
About 180 Schools across Abia State took part in the competition from Local Government to Zonal series where three of them qualified for the finals.
The Grand finale scheduled for June 30th at International Conference Centre, Umuahia would be attended by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, education stakeholders, captains of Industries among others.
The Coordinator, Ray Nkemdirim Foundation, Uche Ama-ohakah commended the turn out in this year’s competition which he said surpassed the 2021 edition.
“The committee members, through the Ministry of Education mobilized schools and we are glad with the turnout. They all came prepared, at different times, we had schools tied to same points. We are grateful to the sponsor who has been consistent in finding the competition,” He said.
The prizes include one million naira scholarship for the winning school, #500,000 for the first runners up and #250,000 for the second runners up.
Recall that Mayfair Academy won last year’s edition held at International Conference Centre, Umuahia.
