ABSIEC Warns LG Election Candidates Against Making Payment To Fake Accounts

Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) has warned candidates and intending ones in December 18, 2020, local government election in the state against making payments to account details not issued by the commission.

ABN TV reports that In a statement issued by the chairman of the commission, Mkpa Agu Mkpa, he said candidates who fall prey of fraudulent tendencies of some persons issuing fake account details will have themselves to blame.

He added that those wishing to make payment of accrued charges to ABSIEC should obtain the Commission’s account details as well as a mode of payment from its Accounting Department.

“It has come to the knowledge of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission that some person(s) who do not have the mandate of the Commission has been issuing fake bank account numbers to unsuspecting/intending candidates of the forthcoming Local Government Elections with a view to defrauding them.

“For the avoidance of doubt, ABSIEC hereby informs all Political Parties and candidates wishing to participate in the said 18th December 2020 Election that accounts details and mode of payment of accrued ABSIEC charges should only be obtained from the Accounts Department of the Commission.

“Anybody dealing with any other person(s) outside the Commission’s Account Department does so at his or her own risk” he stated.
