Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji on Saturday paid a couple of condolence visit to a globally renowned cardiovascular surgeon, Dr Goddy Onyeakolam Achilihu following the death of his mother, Late Mrs Nwanyinma Comfort Achilihu who passed on at the age of 95.
The late nonagenarian was laid to rest at her home town, Umuohia, Akpaa Osokwa in Osisioma Local Government Area on Friday.
During the visit to Dr. Achilihu who is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Speaker expressed sympathy to the bereaved family, urging them to take solace in God, noting that the late matriarch lived a good and fulfilled life.
The Speaker apologised to the second son of the deceased for not making it to the funeral ceremony due to his tight schedule.
“I came to pay my respect to you because of your deep love for our state when it comes to health issues. God has used you mightily to save a lot of people; i therefore urge you to take heart because your mother’s life on earth is a testimony,” he said.
The Abia number one lawmaker also prayed that God in His infinite mercies give the family the grace and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Responding the Chief Mourner, Dr Achilihu thanked the Speaker for coming to commiserate with him and the family. He prayed that God gives the Speaker the wisdom even as he continues to pilot the Legislative duties in the State.
