The Speaker Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji on Tuesday set up an adhoc committee to critically look into the Bill seeking the establishment of Abia State University Teaching Hospital Management Board and for other Matters Connected therewith to remove the grey areas therein.
This follows point of order raised by members of the Assembly during the clause by clause consideration of the bill during Tuesday plenary.
The Ad Hoc Committee was given two weeks to do a detailed work and submit is report to the House.
Members are Rt. Hon Chikwendu Kalu who will serve as the chairman, Hon Barr. Emeka Okoroafor, Hon Barr Jerry Uzosike, Hon Barr. Thomas Nkoro and Hon Chijioke Chukwu.
Others are Hon Stanley Nwabuisi, Hon Barr. Okey Igwe, and, Mr Otumchere who is to serve as Secretary of the Committee
When established, Abia State University Teaching Hospital Management Board shall constitute if the Chairman of the Board, Chief Medical Director, Director of the Teaching Hospital who shall be the Secretary, One representative of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) who is not a Member of the Teaching staff of any University, and, one representative of the Senate of a University with Medical practice
The Chairman and other officials of the Board according to the Bill shall hold Office for four years.
The Speaker also acknowledged the Presence of Students from the Department of Political Science, Abia State University Uturu who came to watch the Plenary Proceedings of the House.
The House subsequently adjourned Plenary to resume to Wednesday, 18th March, 2020, by 10am.
