Abia Speaker Attends Olokoro Women’s August Meeting, Pledges To Furnish E-Library For Community

 

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji earlier today attended the Olokoro Clan Development Union (OCDU) Women Federated 38th Annual August Conference held at Olokoro Central School Field in Umuahia South LGA.

Speaking at the event, the Speaker congratulated the women on their special occasion and thanked them for their contributions, especially to the growth and development of their community.

Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji further said that the importance of women in the society cannot be overemphasized and a testament to this truth is the fact that the world has continued to benefit immensely from the wisdom and astute perspective the women bring to the table.

The Speaker harped on the need for them to continue to be champions of good deeds in all spheres of life including politics because women are the ‘director of operations’ in every home.

He commended them for building an E-Library for the clan and pledged to support them in furnishing the Library. He wished them to progress in all their endeavours and prayed God to keep them in good health as they work to keep Olokoro clan united and prosperous.

In recognition of her outstanding humanitarian services to the people, the wife of the Speaker, Dr Mrs Onyinyechi Chinedum Orji was presented with an award of honour as the Precious Jewel of Olokoro Uvuoma; Barr Mrs Ihuoma Uzosike, wife of the Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon Jerry Uzosike represented and received the award on behalf of the wife of the Speaker.

The Speaker had earlier led other dignitaries at the event to commission and inspect the E-Library.

Dignitaries that attended the event include, Wife of the Governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu who was represented by Mrs Ezeama, former Organising Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party and the PDP flagbearer for Abia Central Senatorial District at the forthcoming 2023 elections, Col. Augustine Akobundu (rtd), Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon Jerry Uzosike, Member representing Umunneochi State Constituency and the Peoples Democratic Party Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon Okey Igwe, Director-General of the Speaker’s campaign council, Pastor Emeka Inyama, a former member of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Max Ndukwe Adindu, Executive Chairmen of Umuahia South and Ikwuano Local Government Areas respectively, Hon Benson Humphery and Hon Steven Mpamaugo, Hon Lady Mercy A. Umesi, Deputy Chairman of Umuahia South LGA, Traditional Rulers, women groups among other dignitaries.

The Women Annual August Conference was hosted by the Olokoro Clan Development Union, Umuajata Autonomous Community.
