The Abia State Police Command has expressed dissatisfaction with the violation of the rule on mandatory use of face mask in public places among people of the State, a measure put in place to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The command, therefore, warned that henceforth, anyone caught in a public place without face mask will be arrested and arraigned before the mobile courts set up by the state government.

In a release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, and made available to ABN TV on Wednesday, it reminded Abians of the importance of wearing face masks when going outside and when interfacing with others outside their homes.
“The Federal Government as well as the state Government have made it compulsory for Keke operators, drivers, passengers, and indeed the public to wear face mask once they are leaving their places of abode.
“The Nigeria Police Abia State Command has mandated her officers and men to arrest anyone seen in the public places, Keke and Buses without wearing face mask for prosecution in the Mobile Courts set up by the State Government.
“Parents and stakeholders should warn their wards to stop self-appointment as task force members. They have been using the platform to extort money from illegal travelers because the ban on Inter-State movement is still in force.
