Pensioners in Abia state under the aegis of Concerned Abia Pensioners have embarked on a peaceful protest in Umuahia, the state capital on Tuesday over what they described as years of unpaid pensions and gratuities, calling on the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu to pay them.
They chanted ‘Okezie Ikpeazu Kwuo Anyi Ugwo Anyi’ meaning Okezie Ikpeazu pay us our pension as they embark on the protest.
Not long ago, pensioners had blocked the entrance of Government House , Umuahia, over the non-payment of arrears of pensions owed them by the state government.
