Abia Pensioners Show Appreciation For Governor Otti’s Payment Of Arrears, Full Monthly Pensions

Abia pensioners under the Concerned Abia Pensioners umbrella staged a solidarity march in Umuahia, the state capital, to express their appreciation for Governor Alex Otti’s efforts in paying their long-overdue pension arrears and commencing full monthly payments.

Led by their Coordinator, Chief Emeka Okezie, the pensioners, dressed in white, marched through the city’s major streets before gathering at the Government House gate. They sang praises and thanked Governor Otti for alleviating their suffering by paying their arrears and starting full payment in April 2024.

Chief Okezie commended the Governor for his commitment to their welfare, stating, “We are here to show our support for Governor Otti, who has ended our years of suffering. He promised to pay us full pensions from the 28th of every month, and surprisingly, we received our payments on the 27th.”

The pensioners also requested a proper election for the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) leadership and access to the NUP Secretariat, built and donated by the Rotary Club.

Apostle Kaycee Wiper, Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious matters, received the pensioners and thanked them for their peaceful march. He assured them that Governor Otti prioritizes their welfare and encouraged them to continue praying for the Governor’s protection and the administration’s progress.

The pensioners’ march is a testament to the positive impact of Governor Otti’s administration on their lives, and they look forward to continued support and progress under his leadership.
