Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has taken a swipe at critics accusing his administration of corruption, saying their attacks are driven by ulterior motives rather than genuine concern for the state.

Speaking during the Aba Stakeholders’ Security Trust Fundraising Luncheon at Aba Sports Club on Thursday, Otti dismissed allegations that public funds were missing under his government.

“I can assure you that in Abia, there is nothing like opposition. You may see a few people who want to get recognition. Some of them want to be settled. Some of them want negotiation. Some of them are preparing to run an election. So, they want to be relevant,” the Governor said.

He reassured Abians that every Kobo of state funds, including contributions to the Security Trust Fund, would be judiciously used and fully accounted for.

“Go and sleep. Money doesn’t go missing under my watch,” Otti added.

The Governor praised the Aba business community for supporting the state’s security efforts and pledged to continue prioritizing security as the bedrock of development.
