Abia Online Media Practitioners Pledges Objective Reporting, Accountability

The Abia State Chairman of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro, has assured that the union will continue to report the activities of the state government objectively and hold the government accountable for its decisions and policies.

Okoro made this statement during the union’s interactive session at the Umuahia North local government area Multi-Purpose hall, after a two-day tour of Governor Alex Otti’s projects in the state.

The OMPAN chairman vowed that the union will not be a stooge of any government nor allow opposition politicians to hijack its activities. He emphasized that the union’s primary function is to entertain, inform, and educate, and it will continue to play its watchdog role as a member of the fourth estate of the realm.

Okoro expressed satisfaction with the completed and ongoing infrastructural development of the state government and called on the Governor to urge contractors to speed up work and ensure close monitoring.

He appreciated Governor Otti for the recognition and support to OMPAN under his leadership and assured Abians that the union will continue to play its watchdog role.

The Governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, expressed excitement with the tour of its projects by OMPAN members and pledged to continue paying special attention to Road Infrastructure, Health, Education, Waste Management, and Security.

He emphasized the importance of the media in holding the government accountable to its promises to the people.
