The Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), Abia has elected new executive officials to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.
Declaring the outcome of the general election held at Evergreen hotels Umuahia, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Ugochukwu Nwankwo said Hon Promise Okoro polled a total of 24 votes to emerge as the new Chairman while Clinton Uba polled 10 votes to come second position.
According to him, “Nneka Torti emerged the Vice Chairman, Dr Steve Unegbu the General Secretary, Chibuzor Aguwa the Financial Secretary, Stanley Nwokonko the Welfare Officer, Nwadiuto Mabel Okugo,the Treasurer and Loveday Chidi the Public Relation Officer, all returned unopposed”
In his acceptance speech, Mr Promise Okoro expressed appreciation for emerging the new chairman,while assuring that, “We will chart a new course for OMPAN Abia”
He reaffirmed his commitment to serve OMPAN with sincerity, while pledging not to disappoint the association.
Continuing,he pleaded with his opponent Mr Clinton Uba to work with him for the growth and development of OMPAN Abia.
He further thanked the Electoral Committee members for conducting a peaceful election as well as the Elders of the association for ensuring that the two major contenders for the position of chairmanship signed a Peace Accord and urged all to sheathe their swords for peace to reign.
Meanwhile,the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria national President Mr James Emeh has urged OMPAN Abia to be united and work as a body, as well as congratulated them for the success of the General election.
Emeh who made this known shortly after the OMPAN Abia General election, lauded the association for conducting free,fair and peaceful election, describing it as a great achievement.
He further called on the Winner of the keenly contested chairmanship election, Promise Okoro to embrace and extend hand of fellowship to his opponent, Clinton Uba and work with him for the growth and development of Online Media Practitioners Association Abia State, while encouraging Clinton Uba to wait for another time, explaining that next time, he could emerge the winner.
In a similar vein, the National Editor in charge OMPAN, Mr Ifeanyi Okali, enjoined all members of OMPAN Abia State to shun envy, gossip as well as other activities that would negatively affect the image and progress of the association,while advising them to imbibe the habit of attending General meetings as well as support the new administration for the growth of the association.
He expressed his love for the association, promising to continue to work for the welfare and growth of the body.
