Abia: Obey Order Unfreezing Govt Accounts Or Be Sealed Off, Ikpeazu Warns Banks

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has cautioned banks in the state against disobeying an order of the FCT High Court removing the Post No Debit (PND) order on all accounts of the state government.

The court had unfreezed bank accounts which hitherto were frozen by its own ex-parte order.

In a statement made available to ABN TV on Tuesday, Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem said banks who do no wish to resume normal business transactions on the accounts will be sealed off.

The government also warns those bent on entrenching anarchy to desist from such acts, saying it has invested so much in ensuring peace and security in the state.

The release read in part, “Government hereby warn all those mischief makers who are bent on stalling smooth and peaceful transition through unnecessary litigations to stop forthwith, as the present administration has invested so much on peace and security and will not be drawn into the unfortunate plan to foist anarchy on the citizens.

“Government therefore directs all Banks that have transactions with Abia State Government to resume normal transactions without further delay, adding that any bank that fails to obey the vacation order will risk being sealed by the State Government.”

The Abia State governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti has repeatedly denied allegations by the state government that he has a hand in the freezing of the accounts.
