A Baptist Church cleric, Reverend Samson Okoro Elekwa, has praised Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District, for providing what he describes as the best form of empowerment through the construction of over 80 rural roads and investments in education across the senatorial district.

The cleric noted that the numerous rural roads constructed by the senator have greatly boosted productivity in the agricultural sector, enabling farmers to transport their goods more efficiently.

“If you go to Atan Abam, Alayi, Ezeukwu, Ndi Inya Abam, Isu, Umuzomgbo, Itumbauzo, Okoko Item, Nneato, Akanu Ohafia, Abia Ohafia, and many other communities in Abia North Senatorial District, you’ll see the roads constructed by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the lawmaker representing the district. This has significantly helped commuters in these areas to move their goods. This is the best form of empowerment, far better than distributing handouts and small cash.

“The importance of a good road network, particularly in rural areas, cannot be underestimated, just like the importance of healthcare centers and clean water. Economic and social development heavily rely on efficient road infrastructure, and a well-connected network of rural roads is essential for boosting agricultural activities.”

The cleric also commended Senator Kalu for his major contributions to the education sector, including distributing educational materials like science textbooks, school bags, school uniforms, scholarships, and the renovation of over 100 schools in Abia North Senatorial District.

“In Arochukwu, where I come from, I am aware of several schools he has renovated, including Mary Slessor, Amuvi, Obinkita Central, Ndi Okpo, and many more. I also know that areas like Ohafia, Bende, Isikwuato, and Umunneochi LGAs have greatly benefited from his educational interventions. This is the best way to secure the future of our children and our senatorial district because education is the foundation of any nation.”
