Abia North Protest: I’m Happy Organisers Refused To Be Hooligans — Hon. Kalu

Member representing Bende federal constituency, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has applauded persons alleged to have planned to stage a protest in Abia North for having a rethink, saying they listened to voice of reasoning.

ABN TV gathered that the protesters who had earlier protested in Aba were being sponsored by the PDP led state government.

The protest took place shortly after the Aba North/South bye-election in which the PDP candidate, Chimaobi Ebisike was declared winner.

The protesters had planned to stormed Abia North over a statement credited to former governor of the state, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu which they found unsavoury.

Hon. Ben Kalu, who doubles as Spokesperson of the House of Representatives had last week in a programme streamed by ABN TV, Ben Kalu Mandate warned that any attempt to stage any protest against Sen. Kalu will be resisted.

Speaking on the same programme on Tuesday, the federal lawmaker said the decision to discontinue the planned protest is in the spirit of mutual respect, thanking the sponsors for refusing to be hooligans.

He had earlier warned that anyone who comes to Abia North to protest against Sen. Kalu is a hooligan and would be treated as such.

He insisted that respect should be accorded to leaders in the state irrespective of political differences.

Describing Sen. Kalu as leader of leaders and boss of bosses, Hon. Benjamin Kalu cautioned that the people of Abia North will not allow hooligans to come to the domain to embarrass their illustrious son.

He also pledged that the geopolitical zone will accord the people their respect so that peace can be deeply entrenched in Abia State in general.
