Abia New Police Boss Cautions Officers Against Unethical Conduct

The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Abia State command CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, has admonished officers and men of the command to uphold the standard of the police force in discharging their duties.

The new CP was on Wednesday received by officers and men of the command at the State Command headquarters in Umuahia.

CP Onwuemelie in his address noted that police Officers are public servants and not public lords, should therefore ensure they carry out their duties effectively in adherence to rules and laws guiding the profession.

He encouraged them to be of good conduct and promised to interface with them often to understand their challenges and needs.

CP Onwuemelie assured of his willingness to work with relevant stakeholders, other security agencies, community leaders and traditional rulers in ensuring that the peace in the state is maintained and improved upon.

His words “As police officers we are public servants, so we are here for the good people of Abia state.

“The bad people in Abia State who comes in contact with the law will also be treated in line with what the law has provided for, that is what we are here to do and that is what we will do.

“We will do it collectively not just with the police officers, we will do it with other stakeholders, other security agencies, community, traditional rulers leaders we will all put our hands together to improve on the level of security that we have so far in Abia.

“My impression is that whatever level of peace we have in Abia can be improved upon for every person that resides in Abia State.”
