Abia Inland Revenue Agency Bars Erondu From Collecting Unified Emblem Levies

The Abia State Internal Revenue Service has barred Elder Azubuike Ihuoma Erondu, from collecting revenues accrued from Unified Emblem levies.

This is contained in a letter dated June 23, 2022, signed by the Acting Chairman/Chief Executive of the Service, Agbara Celestine.

Celestine alleged that Erondu had consistently carried out the collection of the unified Emblems without adopting ABIRS e-ticket/e- emblems, or upload system rules.

He also hinted that Erondu, had flagrantly flaunted laid down regulations, code of conduct, ethics in collections, and enforcement of compliance of the revenue windows.

The ABIRS boss equally faulted Erondu, for reverting to the hackneyed understanding with Abia State Passenger Integrated Manifest Scheme (ASPIM) against the settled understanding while his appointment with ABIRS subsists.

According to the letter, “sequel to our appraisal of your quarterly performance, we write to inform you of displeasure over your poor performance based on the following criteria: collection of levies without using ABIRS e-ticket/e-emblems approved platforms.

“Collecting above amount as authorized by ABIRS and engaging enforcers without recourse/ clearance from ABIRS.

“Approaching the court while an appointment subsists with intent to Coax ABIRS, from proceeding to quarterly review your performance.

“Continuous fraudulent collections outside ABIRS authorized prices.

Online with the conditions of your appointment be informed that ABIRS has with immediate effect suspended your appointment pending further investigation.
