The train of his support group, Ekweremekwe Movement had landed in Obingwa, Aba North and South Local Government Areas, LGAs, where he preached the message of hope and ‘freedom from fear’ which he said he represents.

The supporters sang and danced, cheering and urging Mayor Lucky Igbokwe to come and rescue Abia State as a tested and trusted private sector operator.

The PDP stakeholders and delegates expressed excitement about the prospects of a Mayor Lucky Igbokwe governorship as they unanimously pledged to work towards its actualisation come 2023.

Mayor Lucky Igbokwe told the PDP stakeholders that he is committed to changing the tide in Abia politics, urging the people to commit themselves to breaking the jinx of imposition of candidates which has become like a phenomenon in the state.

The Ohuhu Umuahia born entrepreneur and entertainment icon who held his audience spell bound in his presentations, said he is running on his individual strength and merit because he has no ‘godfather’ behind him except God the Father. Mayor Igbokwe noted that Abians have been taken for granted by the leadership and must determine to change their situation as he presents himself a better option to the service of Abia state.

He called on the stakeholders to do away with clannish sentiments because it’s an available tool in the hands of politicians to divide the people and take away their right to choose their leaders, and added that he is not a desperate politician but concerned about the welfare of the people.

Mayor Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu) said as a private individual and through the Don Lulu Foundation which he established, he has been able to build houses not only for widows, but for homeless and miserable people in the society to help ameliorate their sufferings, as well as supported youth empowerment programmes. To him if he can do this much as a private person with little resources available, there would be no limit to what he can deliver using the instrument of government.

The Obingwa LGA Chairman, Elder Seth Agomuo, encouraged Mayor Igbokwe to continue with his activities believing that it’s God that gives power. He asked him to continue from where Gov Okezie Ikpeazu stopped because he has laid the foundation, while he wished Don Lulu and his team success.

Hon Chukwudi Dike, the zonal secretary of the party said they have refused to be used and dumped like tissue paper, promising that 2023 election would mark a turning point in the history of Abia State.
