A faction of All Progressives Congress APC in Abia State loyal to the former chairman, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa has said it is not ready to shift ground on the governorship candidacy of the former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah.
It insists that it is not ready to reach any truce with the Dr. Ononogbu faction which has Ikechi Emenike as its governorship candidate.
Addressing newsmen in Umuahia on Saturday after a meeting, the secretary of the faction, Barr. Perfect Okorie while insisting that the faction is the only recognised APC leadership in the state, stressed that its direct mode of primary election which took place May 26 and produce Dr. Uche Ogah as the party’s governorship flagbearer was a directive of the APC national leadership.
He listed Osun, Benue and Abia as states were direct mode of primary was approved by the Sen. Adamu Mohammed led APC National Working Committee.
Barr. Okorie therefore expressed the resolve of the party to sack the ‘failed’ PDP government in Abia State come 2023.
He boasted most of the founding members of APC as a party are on the side of his faction of the party, including top political office holders in the state.
He said the alleged harmonisation with the Ononogbu faction which took place in Ntalakwu is a mere ruse that cannot stand, maintaining that it is not ready to negotiate with the faction in future regarding the candidacy of Uche Ogah.
“Whatever took place there is a nullity, is a sham and has not effect,” he added.
Some of the leaders who spoke, including a representative of former speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and a founding member of APC, Rt. Hon. Stanley Ohajuruka said Abia APC is one and ready to take over governance of the state in 2023.
