Abia Govt Sacks Illegal Occupants At Aba Textile Mills

Abia State Government has sacked alleged illegal occupants of properties belonging to the Aba Textile Mills at the Government Reservation Area, GRA, Aba.

The three buildings located on a large expanse of land at Oron Street, in the area,were sealed and marked as ‘Abia State Government property.’

One of the buildings was converted to a school , with other structures erected in the expansive compound.

General Manager, Greater Development Authority ,GADA, Mr. Uche Ukeje, said the buildings belong to the state owned textile company but was illegally occupied by unknown individuals.

He said, “The three buildings belong to the Aba Textile Mills PLC,but are being occupied by unknown persons. These properties belong to the state.We have sealed and marked them Abia State Government properties.

“So, these illegal occupants are advised to quit immediately because they are not supposed to live there. They have no right to occupy the buildings owned by the state without authorization.All government properties in the hands of individuals in Aba will be recovered from such persons,no matter the status of the people involved.”

Some of the alleged illegal occupants who declined to have their names, told Vanguard that they got the properties from previous administrations and have documents to prove their claims.

“The government is wrong to seal my property because i have documents to prove ownership. I have the documents to prove how I acquired the property,” one of them,said.
