The Abia State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of families of fallen security personnel, announcing continued support and educational scholarships for their children.
Governor Alex Otti made the pledge during the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day ceremony held in Umuahia.
He revealed that the state had established a structured welfare package for the spouses and children of officers who lost their lives in active service over the past year.
According to the Governor, the initiative includes financial assistance for the families and full educational scholarships for the children up to the tertiary level.
Otti also disclosed that the welfare scheme has been extended beyond the armed forces to include families of fallen officers in the police and other security agencies, describing the move as a reflection of the state’s gratitude for their service and sacrifice.
He concluded by assuring Ndi Abia that his administration would continue to prioritize peace, security, and the well-being of those who protect the state and its people.
