The Abia State Government has dismissed as false and malicious reports claiming that Governor Alex Chioma Otti instituted a lawsuit against the Federal Government of Nigeria at an alleged “World Court” over the approval of a cargo airport in Aba.
In a press release issued on February 9, 2026, the state government described the circulating report as spurious, misleading, and entirely fabricated, stressing that no such legal action exists and that Governor Otti has neither approached nor petitioned any international court on the matter.
The government clarified that issues concerning aviation infrastructure approvals in Nigeria fall strictly within established national regulatory and administrative frameworks, noting that the administration has never contemplated international litigation over such matters.
It also debunked claims suggesting the governor accused Nigeria of marginalisation or genocide, or alleged killings and denial of rights against Igbos in Lagos, describing the assertions as wicked lies aimed at inflaming ethnic tension and misleading the public.
According to the statement, the narrative bears the hallmarks of a coordinated smear campaign by opposition figures unsettled by the reform-driven governance currently underway in Abia State. The government accused such actors of resorting to fabrication after failing to challenge the administration’s performance with facts.
The state government urged the public to disregard the report and advised media practitioners to verify information from credible and official sources before publication. It further warned that appropriate action may be taken against individuals or platforms found deliberately spreading falsehood capable of undermining public peace and confidence in government.
Reaffirming the administration’s priorities, the government stated that Governor Otti remains focused on rebuilding Abia State through due process, constructive engagement with federal authorities, and the pursuit of sustainable development projects for the benefit of Ndi Abia and the nation.
