Abia Govt Cracks Down on Traditional Rulers Harboring Criminals

The Abia State Government has intensified efforts to combat criminal activities, particularly by closely monitoring traditional rulers suspected of harboring criminals in their communities.

Speaking on the government’s renewed security measures, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, warned that security operatives would conduct targeted raids in areas suspected of providing shelter to criminals. He emphasized that any traditional ruler found guilty of shielding criminals would face the full weight of the law.

“The government remains unwavering in its commitment to eradicating crime and ensuring a safer Abia. Traditional rulers and town unions must uphold their responsibilities in maintaining security and vigilance within their domains,” Kanu stated.

In a related development, the Commissioner confirmed the safe release of a prominent businessman kidnapped in Ukwa. According to him, security agencies successfully secured the victim’s freedom, and medical professionals have confirmed that he is in good health.

Reaffirming the government’s dedication to protecting lives and property, Kanu urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate security agencies.
