The Abia State Police Command has arrested Prof ACB Agbazuere, Former Chief of Staff and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency in the 2023 General Election.
He is presently being held at the CP’s Office Bende Road Umuahia.
He was arrested while preparing to honour the Panel on Recovery of Government Properties invitation set up by the current Abia State Government.
It was gathered that the Ex-Chief Of Staff had also filed a suit at the Federal High Court over the harassment and intimidation by the Panel over a PRADO Jeep duly issued to him as take-home by the Government of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.
Speaking with ABN TV, ACB Agbazuere alleged that he is being persecuted by the Governor Alex Otti-led government of Abia State.
He said while he was away to Abuja, a letter of invitation from Abia property recovery panel was dropped with his gate man after which a bench warrant was issued against him, which he said is not the right procedure.
He wondered why he was the only person invited by the panel, saying he has approached the federal high court. Despite being served the court notice, Agbazuere wondered why the police issued a bench warrant.
He said upon his arrival from Abuja on Tuesday evening and was ready to honour the invitation of the recovery panel set up by the state government.
On Wednesday morning, a large number of policemen arrived at his home to effect his arrest. As at the moment of this report, he had reported at the state police headquarters and was waiting for the arrival of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Kene Onwuemelie.
He alleged that the plan by the state government is to perpetually keep him in the custody of the police and engage in frivolous adjournments.
