Abia Couple Kidnapped Few Days To Their School’s Christmas Party Freed After 200k Ransom

A man and his wife who are proprietors of an undisclosed private school in Ugwunagbo Local Government of Abia State have regained freedom from their abductors.

They were kidnapped at the heels of preparations for end of year/Christmas party of their school.

Their freedom follows the payment of N200,000 ransom.

The couple were kidnapped at Umuobasi Ukwu village in Umugo community, Ugwunagbo LGA on December 12.

This development led to the indefinite suspension of the end of year/Christmas party.

It was learnt that the kidnappers freed the couple after realising they could not get more funds from them.

Report has it that soldiers attached to the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have arrested some members of the gang.

The couple had gone to buy items needed for the ceremony in the same community when the kidnappets struck.

A source said: “The three-man gang with a Lexus Jeep picked both of them, leaving behind their three children wandering and crying.

“The eldest child is about seven years. They slept without their parents and they don’t know when their parents are going to come back.”
