In a heartwarming display of patriotism and community spirit, various groups joined forces to clean up Ahiaukwu market in Olokoro on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
The collaborative effort, aimed at supporting the government’s goal of a greener Abia, brought together Concerned Olokoro Youths in Diaspora (COYID), Olokoro Progressive Youth Association (OPYA), OCDU committee on health, Ahiaukwu market leadership, Olokoro Youths, Abia state Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), and the people of Abia.
The initiative, dubbed “Green Olokoro,” kicked off with the distribution of environmental protection materials to Ahiaukwu market traders for proper waste management and disposal. This marks the beginning of a recurring clean-up exercise, made possible by the contributions of Umu Olokoro in cash, advice, and direction.
Mr. Lion Wisdom Ekeleme conceived this timely initiative, earning praise from Ikechukwu Emezue, who expressed gratitude to all involved. “A clean environment promotes good health,” emphasized Emezue, urging stakeholders and Umu Olokoro to prioritize environmental sanitation.
The success of this joint effort demonstrates the power of community collaboration in achieving a cleaner, healthier Abia.
